Comprehensive Diagnostic and Evaluation Clinic
The Little Friends Center for Autism provides one of the most comprehensive evaluations in the country for diagnosing children with autism spectrum disorders. Our assessment team has extensive experience and training, and includes a psychologist, speech pathologists and occupational therapists.
Who Should be Evaluated
Evaluations are available for children of all ages. Warning signs may include:
- Delayed language and/or loss of language or other skills
- Insistence on sameness, structure, and routine
- Rocking or flapping of hands
- Inappropriate or odd play with toys
- Unresponsive to his or her name
A telephone screening can help determine whether your child should be evaluated.
About the Evaluation
A multi-disciplinary team of professionals will provide a comprehensive evaluation, which includes:
- Parent interview
- Psychological testing designed to diagnose an Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Speech evaluation
- Occupational therapy evaluation
- Conference with the family, including diagnosis, recommendations, and a review of available resources. School district personnel can be included if desired.
The evaluation will determine whether or not a child has an Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Length of the Evaluation
Evaluations generally take place over the course of five sessions on separate days. The length of time needed to complete the process will depend on your schedule and that of the evaluators.
Geographic Area Served
Evaluations are conducted at the Little Friends Center for Autism, 1001 E. Chicago Avenue, Suite 151, Naperville. There are no geographic limits as long as the family is willing to drive to the Center for the necessary five appointments.
Fees
A fee is charged for the evaluation. Health insurance may cover all or part of the cost, so please call for details.
