Phonathon 2009 November 3, 2009
Volunteer Shifts: 5:45-8:30 p.m. Location: Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, 967 W. 75th Street, Naperville
Volunteers from across the agency and the community will be calling members of the Little Friends family between 6:15-8:30 p.m. from Coldwell Banker in Naperville. We are currently seeking volunteers to help make phone calls, record information and assist with various administrative duties. Approximately 60 volunteers are needed to ensure we can successfully contact each member of the Little Friends family. Food and festivities included. We are also looking for prize donations for volunteers, including baked goods, gift cards and other goodies!

Friends of Little Friends Parade November 27, 2009 - Downtown Naperville
Volunteer Shifts: 3-7:30 p.m. (A variety of shifts are available) Location: Downtown Naperville
Held each year as part of the Hometown Holidays celebration in downtown Naperville, this joyful holiday event features a spectacular collaboration of lighted and musical floats and Santa’s big arrival in preparation for the busy holiday season. Volunteers are needed to serve as parade helpers, reindeer helpers and photographers. Volunteers are also needed to sell Hometown Holidays bears.

Bids for Kids Benefit Auction Planning Committee March 6, 2010 - Hilton Lisle-Naperville
Now in its 34th year, the Bids for Kids Benefit Auction is one of the longest-running auctions in the Naperville area. Community volunteers are needed to help plan all aspects of this exciting event. Volunteers assist with logistics, sponsorship, marketing, decorations and live and silent auction item solicitation. The planning committee meets monthly beginning in October at the Little Friends Administrative Building.

Step Up for Autism walk Planning Committee June 27, 2010 - Downtown Naperville- Riverwalk
Designed to raise awareness about autism, a complex developmental disability that affects an estimated 1.5 million Americans, the Step Up for Autism walk was the first of its kind to be held in Naperville. More than 1,600 participants helped to raise more than $145,000 in donations making the 2009 walk and fun run one of the most successful fundraising events in Little Friends history. Volunteers are needed to serve on the planning committee for the 2010 event, volunteer on the day of the walk and form teams of walkers and runners. The planning committee meets monthly beginning in January at the Little Friends Administrative Building.

Ongoing Volunteer Needs
Serendipity Resale Shop Volunteers
Volunteers are responsible for sorting and tagging donations and arranging merchandise displays. A number of volunteers can also assist at the shop by serving as cashiers throughout the week. Volunteers must be able to walk up and down stairs, while carrying merchandise.
Volunteers in the shop’s clothing and linen departments are needed to work between 9 a.m.-noon on Mondays or Thursdays. Volunteers interested in working in the shop’s household department are needed from 9 a.m.-noon one day each week. Volunteers interested in serving as cashiers at the shop are needed to work four hour shifts one day each week. The Serendipity Shop is also seeking community volunteers to assist on Saturday mornings between the hours of 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This opportunity is ideal for college and high school students. Volunteers must be 14 years old.
The Serendipity Resale Shop is open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m.

Screen Printing Interns
Creative, hard-working and self-motivated interns are needed at ColorBurst Screen Printing, which is operated by the vocational division of Little Friends. Interns are needed to assist in direct print production and set-up, work on manual and automatic presses, meet deadlines, ensure quality control, prepare artwork for output (Illustrator & Photoshop experience required), and be willing to work alongside individuals with disabilities.
Flexible hours are available including morning, afternoon and early evening shifts, weekdays only. This is an unpaid internship but college credit may be earned.
