Founded in 1965, Little Friends has grown into a multi-faceted human services agency operating three schools, vocational training programs, community-based residential opportunities, and the Little Friends Center for Autism, a valued resource for diagnosis, comprehensive evaluations, therapies, and trainings for parents and professionals. Little Friends serves more than 800 people each year throughout nine counties and 45 school districts across northern Illinois and Indiana. The groundbreaking programs and nationally-renowned staff at Little Friends help provide lifelong opportunities for growth so those we serve can work, learn, play and experience the joy of life’s everyday moments.

“We have been on a journey pursing continual improvement as an organization for the past two years. Being formally recognized by CQL for the quality of work and services our team provides is both humbling and recognition for our team’s commitment to making the lives of those we serve better,” said Mike Briggs, president and CEO of Little Friends.

When Little Friends partnered with CQL to pursue accreditation, it undertook a rigorous process to review and improve supports and services. The efforts of Little Friends were focused on empowering the people who receive supports to pursue what really matters in their lives, and achieve their personally-defined outcomes.

Little Friends has been awarded CQL accreditation as a result of demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:

Basic Assurances® Ensuring fundamental safeguards related to health, safety and human security

Personal Outcome Measures® Supporting and empowering people to achieve their goals and dreams

Person-Centered Excellence Demonstrating organizational commitment to continued enhancement of systems

“CQL commends Little Friends for its success in increasing the quality of life for the people it supports. We are pleased to partner with them on this journey of ongoing organizational transformation,” states Mary Kay Rizzolo, president and CEO of CQL.
