The growth and success of the people supported by Little Friends would not be possible without the agency’s greatest resources, our dedicated and compassionate employees. Today, we would like to recognize one of the agency’s employees, Kathy Bytner. Kathy, Trainer and Peer Mentor at Spectrum Vocational Services, has been helping those supported by Little Friends for over 33 years.
When asked what makes Little Friends special, Kathy stated “the individuals…they let me be a piece of their lives. And I can help them have a good day.” As Kathy recalls special moments throughout the agency, it becomes clear the people she supports are part of her life as well. She has had numerous special moments throughout her 33 years at Little Friends including listening to the Cubs game while driving people home from Spectrum when all of a sudden the 7th inning stretch came on. The entire vehicle was singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.” Throughout her 33 years with Little Friends, these little moments are what continue to drive her every day.
For Kathy, it is not just the people supported who motive her every day. Her team supports each other to make the agency special. She mentions how much she appreciates her managers and co-workers because they always have her back. They come together to brainstorm, to be a resource for ideas, and to lift you up when needed. “I know they will be there for me as I would be for them.”
Kathy, thank you for all you do and for being such a special part of so many lives at Little Friends. .
