Little Friends Residential Services helps adults with autism and other developmental disabilities live in apartments, condominiums and single-family homes as independent members of the community. We currently serve individuals in 38 homes throughout the Naperville area in DuPage and Will counties, with some of our residents celebrating 30, 40 or even 50 years of being a part of our community. Many of the people who live in one of our homes, also participate in supported employment or additional programming through our Spectrum Vocational Services.
According to the most recent data available, there are 42.8 million people in the United States living with some type of disability, with 29.6 million of those individuals living in poverty, and roughly only 35% employed at all. Across Illinois, more than 19,000 adults—many of them now outliving their family caregivers—have requested state support, and receive no help.
The need for services for individuals with disabilities is astounding and the current supply of these services outstrips the demand. In addition to providing a continuum of care that extends from 18 months to end of life, Little Friends provides robust and successful programs that address the need for residential opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
