Everyone is settling into new spaces and routines at our Adult Day Services program site in Warrenville now that the program move from Downers Grove is complete. The new building provides an environment that allows our Adult Day Services program to continue to emphasize elements of a meaningful day and a flourishing life. Focus on recreation, skill acquisition, community integration, self-advocacy, social-emotional skill refinement, access to novel experiences, and other engaging activities will now happen in this large open space.
Areas for games, gatherings, and learning can be found in the Activity Center, to be dedicated to long-time Little Friends Board Member Dan Casey later this year. A lounge and a music area for karaoke and dance parties have also been included to encourage social activities. Inklude Art Studio has a bright space with a bay of windows allowing for natural light, more creative space for different art mediums, and a large display area just waiting to be filled.
Vocational training and supported employment remain a large part of our day program, allowing individuals to continue to enjoy the benefits of developing vocational skills, earning income, and finding meaningful occupation in work.
Additional classroom space has also been designed in this facility to accommodate our newest program focusing on young adults – Connecting Adults with Communities. Programming is being developed to support individuals aged 18-35, providingjob training and experiential learning opportunities to foster independence.
